Research - Act of preparing, studying, investigating sources via materials, people, places etc., in order to discover facts or discover a conclusion.

Applied Research - Research that is useful in the immediate future and used to solve specific and practical problems and also help answer specific questions.

Survey Research - Research that is applied using and collecting statistical data, based on surveys and collecting information from other people and their thoughts.

Experimental Research Design - A research experiment that involves the researcher controlling, manipulating or influencing the independent variable or subject.

Hypothesis (and give an example) - A proposed explanation based on an observation and limited evidence and is not proven to be fact until further investigation. (Example: If I study really hard this semester, then I should be able to score all A's in my classes)

Dependent Variable (and give an example) - A variable that is caused or influenced by another variable. (Example: A test score is a dependent variable, because it depends on other factors, such as how much you studied and prepared, how much sleep you may have received the night before, if you were hungry during your test and more.)

Independent Variable (and give an example) - A variable that stands alone and it not influenced or caused by another variable. (Example: My age is an independent variable, as it is not influenced by sleep, studying or eating.)

Informed Consent - The procedure and process to gather other participants' permission about a study, before they take part in.

Population and Sample - is a group or particular section where people or animals are living and a sample is a small part, portion or piece of that that whole group, section or population.

Questionnaire - A set of data, questions and statistical data used to gather information and feedback from participants.
