Blake Cantera Case Study

Blake Cantera in his summer internship worked for Fancy consultants & Company. As a graduate student in his first year, Blake was excited. After an introduction to FC system and culture, Blake was assigned to manage a project for the Royal Hotel where they have problem. Blake provided them high-tech solutions which include a quality control, preventive maintenance, reporting and rapid response. However, the implementation was not successful and the new system's performance was not satisfactory for the general manager hotel.

In this case, there are many issues that could be one of the reasons of the failure: - 1- end users resistance to change. 2- Organization culture challenges. 3- The implementation support was limited from FC and the vendor. 4- Rely on the new system was in a short period while it supposed to be gradually.

On the other hand, as a systems analyst and consultant, Blake needs to meet with the full management team and ensure that the new system has all committing because management team is the core that make the system runs smoothly and be successful. Also, Blake needs to analyze the current situation and interview end users to know why they stop using the system. Out of analysis process Blake should be able to make an implementation review, action plan for design modifications, change management and training and re-release.

As a response to end of case questions, I think the system failed because Fancy Consultants and Company decided to assignee a new project to Blake and leave the current project in the middle of processing. Also, the Royal Hotel management was in rush to solve this issue rather than take time to understand the new system processes and there was a breakdown of communication between Blake and Jack. Also, there was a missing ring among the four components. Therefore, Blake needs to meet with end users to fully understand the situation, produce post implementation review.

To sum up, reflecting on this experience, Blake did not make mistake because he was involved with this project and negotiated with vendors but what make this project turned to a failure project is that the FC Company transferred him to another project and recall him again at this point
