I think beliefs are very important values that serve as the foundation as well as the building blocks in my life, and it also expresses my attitude towards certain issues. I feel that beliefs are not simply having an idea about something but having a stand and disagreeing or agreeing on it.
Reflecting on today's problem and your comments towards the class' performance, I felt that the "voices of youths" were not very persuasive; simple because we did not fully understood the topic and believed in it. If we had linked the problem personally or even to our friends and family, a higher level of conviction will probably be shown naturally.
I think that my own creativity and inspiration can be drawn from beliefs. When we are familiar with what we believe in, we are able to search deeper to give insight for personal development. Beliefs in terms of creativity could be values which say to "work together" or "dare to explore new ideas"" and this would lead to me thinking of innovative and creative ideas.
But there are always two sides to everything. Beliefs might encourage creativity but I believe that having beliefs hinder it as well. I do hope there is no right or wrong for this RJ question, but I am on the negative side of beliefs. It limits our thinking in a certain way and limited beliefs about what is possible would constrain creative thinking. It regulates my behaviour and holds me down. I am someone who is risk-averse and tends to avoid dangerous ideas; perception is reality.
However, I think that I should stop having more positive and supportive beliefs towards myself, people, and possibilities. I should believe that I am creative and that I have skills beyond me and having positive beliefs would act as and encouragement and thus enable me to be more creative. When I believe that all things are possible, I might not achieve everything I set out to do but I would accomplish far more creativity than if I believed in impossibility.
