An automobile is a self propelled vehicle used for passenger travel, it is also the most important means of transportation for millions of people around the world. Automobiles have been a very big piece of human society since the early 1900's.
The history of the automobile dates back to 1665 with the man Ferdinand Verbiest. They say that Ferdinand created a four wheel miniature steam carriage for the Chinese Emperor Khang His, he was the emperor from 1665 to 1680. They said that they found Ferdinand's plans for it in his place of study. They also say it was only two feet long.
Later in history what they say was the first automobile was created by Nicolas Cugnot. He called it the Cugnot Steam Tractor, which when it was finally finished in 1769. People saw him driver it around town and his yard. Some people think Nicolas Cugnot just built the tractor, but he didn't, he was actually elected the Royal Automobile Group in England and the Automobile Club de France to make the tractor.
During the time period of 1800 and 1910, many types of automobile were created, but I'm only going to tell you about three of them. In 1801 Richard Trevithick created his locomotive carriage. Some people don't think it existed, but it did and the prove it, it was patented on December 24th, 1801. The carriage's engine was a steam engine with a boiler and a smokestack, because of these items it could attain 9 miles per hour.
The second automobile is considered a pioneer car. Pioneer cars were hard to drive, so some carmakers in France created sedans and roadsters. These types of cars were easier to drive, so one car making company, De Dion Bouton, created a type of sedan in 1903. They called it the 1903 De Dion Bouton Model Q, people loved to drive them and De Dion Bouton because popular.
In 1908 not many people owned cars, so Henry Ford, found of Ford Automotive Company created the Ford Model T with his assembly line for fast production; after a period of one year, more than two-hundred fifty thousand people owned Model T Fords. The car became very popular and many other Ford autos came later in time.
In 1862 Entienne Lenoir finished an engine project and the engines are still being used today. He strapped it into his carriage and drove it through Vincennes Forest near Paris, France. It was something he had been working on for a long time and because of it he was put in history. He showed that hard work can pay off in the long run.
Automobiles in France were first known as a horseless carriage, now they are known as $10,000 pieces of luxury. Automobiles have changed so much throughout the years, the change from steam propelled to gas propelled, they have changed from a wooden body to a metal body.
