ATLANTIC SLAVE TRADE
In this week's readings in the book, World Civilizations: global experience, one of the important topics is Commercial Revolution. Therefore, I will mention about the process of Atlantic Slave Trade with my ideas over it. This topic is interesting for me, because it shows similarity with another country did.
In 1487, Portuguese ships reached the African coast, Cope of Good Hope. Then, they began to dominate all coasts in the Africa and to deal with the other kingdoms in Africa, who are Muslim and see Portuguese as an enemy. They achieved these purposes quite good. I think that this made Portuguese enable to prepare the ground for the slave trade. In my opinion, this is because that no one could interfere what Portuguese do due to its power in Africa, so they could do whatever they want, such as slave trade. After the its domination along the African coasts, the Atlantic Slave Trade started, the Portuguese people took the slave to their country , and then, this trade expanded to America. I believe that the period when Portuguese develop sugar production was the main time of the slave trade. The reason is that there was extra need to lobar force to cultivate sugar and main source of lobar force was slaves. Additionally, I argue that this trade may be similar with Ottoman Slave Trade. Just as Portuguese did, Ottomans took slaves from Africa. Then, these slaves were worked in a variety of place, such as village farm fields and the garden of the palace where Sultans live.
To make a conclusion for the discussion made so far, it may be pointed out that the slave trade has been a considerable subject for Portuguese. That's why, it seems likely that Portuguese may start to make slave trade again in today's world.
