TIME LINE PROJECT
In this project, each student will be responsible for one piece of art that will be part of our classroom time line. You will be the expert on that work, the artist who created it and, to some degree, the period in which it was created. We will make preliminary presentations in class next week but the real fun begins when we encounter your piece as we travel the history of art. You will be assessed on the completeness and clarity of your posted information guide and your classroom presentation.
Your final product will have three components:
PART ONE: TO BE POSTED
Your poster MUST be 11"x17".
I will provide the paper. You may use it or employ it as a guide. It should include some image of your piece that is at least 8" x 10". This is image should be of the highest resolution possible so the PRINTED images is not pixilated. I recommend that if you are using Google Image to search, choose nothing smaller than a LARGE size image. Although you may crop/reduce/enlarge as you see fit, DO NOT change the proportions of the image! The remainder of your poster should be crammed with as many details as possible about the work. You will want to include:
1. The title, author's name and date for the piece.
2. A description of the work.
3. Some discussion of why it is significant.
4. Where is this art located NOW?
5. Is there a story that needs to be told?
6. Some discussion of how it might fit into the larger art world at this time...was this artist part of a specific movement or group? What period or regional style does it represent and why?
7. What impact does this piece have on you? Were you familiar with it before this assignment?
8. Has there been significant conservation or forgery of this artist's work?
9. How does this respond to Classical Art?
REMEMBER...THIS WILL BE POSTED; KEEP THAT IN MIND WHILE MAKING YOUR INFORMATION SHEETS. Citations in MLA format are required and should be visible.
I want you to carefully look at your piece before looking at secondary or critical sources about it. Your
