Right now in America and all over the world, we are fighting to keep our teens safe from drugs. However, everywhere you turn there are new drugs that are considered to be "legal" are poping up in gas stations and online. Right now the drugs of choice are bath salts and spice. The drug that needs to be illegal is spaice, as bath salts are illegal already. Spice is being sold as incense that looks like poporui. While incense when used properly are not harmful to use, this incense is sold for people to smoke as a general rule. This drug is harmful to the users mind and body.
The advertisement on the packaging of spice says that it is made from naturally dried herbs. However, these "naturally dried" herbs are sprayed with chemicals and fertilizer specfically to produce a drug that will get you high. These chemicals are synthic copies of THC and Cannabis. The chemicals produce intense highs with very little amounts being smoked. The packages don't have all the chemicals listed that are used to make the drug. While the label says "Not for Human Consumption" no one is really listening to it. The DEA has made five of the most common chemicals used to make spice illegal in the United States of America. This is their attempt to eliminate spice altogether.
While marijuana gives you a feeling of calm relaxation, spice does not give the user this feeling. Spice causes the user to suffer from feeling of alienation, and loss of concentration. The user can't focus on one thing for longer that two or three seconds at a time. They can suffer from hallucinations, paranoia, and anxiety. There has been cases of people dying due to useing spice. One young boy commited sucide less than an hour after using spice. This is something that he never would have done had he not been under the influence of spice.
While the affects spice have ong the brain alone should make you think twice about using it, here are some affects that spice has on the body. Spice affects the heart severely. Spice can cause a rise in blood pressure and a rapid heart beat. Thus possibly causing a heart attack as it has in some cases. Spice can also have a reverse affect and reduce the blodd supply to the heart known as myocaridial ischemia. Aside from the affects that spice hast on the heart, it also has affects on the central nervous system. Convulsions, hallucinnations, and agitation are caused by using spice as well. The user can experience severe nausua as well as vomiting just from using spice. The user might also become confused while on spice. There is also the potential risk of ingesting harmful metal residue that the manufactures put in spice. If you are a regular user you can experience withdrawal symptoms due to the addictive qualities that the chemicals in spice have.
