Application architecture

The system architecture is an important process in the development stage. The communication of systems is dependent on the systems architecture. The current network at riodan manufacturing can handle communication with every site. The new riordan manufacturing HRIS will be located and installed at the main headquarters. The new HRIS will use its own designated network storage. All facilities will need to maintain the wide area network connection with high speed network capabilities for extremely fast communication. The HIRS server will transmit information to and from other sites. From one HRIS to the main site and the main site to another HRIS if necessary. Each site will have their own HRIS for all staff to use. The HRIS at the site will communicate with the main site HRIS which will store all information the end result will allow better access to information that each site may need.

Process Design

The HRIS will store data from all information inputted from all sites. The main site or headquarters will be the house for the network server. In order for the system to work correctly all staff will need access. The following is a list of Information which shall be easily accessible:

* Employee Information - Holds employee information.

* Employee Handbook - A pdf on rules an employee must go by. A bylaw.

* Job Descriptions - List of all employee job descriptions.

* Electronic Job Posting - Job posting for open or promotion positions.

* Policies and Procedures - similar to the employee handbook.

* Employee Profile - Certain information which is available for everyone to see.

All human Resources managers and higher level staff will have access to all information.

Only the human resources department will have full access to the HRIS. All other department will only be able to their own information. The HRIS will have a unique simple user interface while the manager will have a more broad range of information. The following diagram is a high level deception on the security controls.

The systems architecture is depend on information from the other sites. The information must flow to the main site from the other sites and back to the other sites. (Roberts, 2002) states " However, the Internet has opened a company's computing resources to their customers, which means the architect must now create a system architecture that can handle thousands of users with unpredictable usage patterns."
