On July 20, 1969 at exactly 8:17pm Apollo 11 successfully landed on the moon. It was not only a great accomplishment for the United States but as well as for the whole world. When Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong took the first step on the moon it was an impact left on many lives. It opened a door to a whole new world and new life.

Since then we have had a total of 170 flights to the moon by just the United States alone. Russia has had a total of 116 and Japan at only 3. All together we have had a total of 289 flights to the moon. We have discovered so many new things emerge for us.

In the recent months the government has decided to close NASA. Not only do I think this is a terrible decision made but a stupid one at that. With the technological advances being made on the world we are going to push ourselves farther back than most countries. The fact that there is so much unknown about space it leaves us with a big mystery.

My personal feelings about this our limited. I am purely fascinated by space and the technology up there. I believe this is going to affect me in the long run. Not only in the aspect of leaving my mind to wonder if we are the only ones out here but if we aren't wouldn't you like to know what else is out there? I have always wanted to study space and the advances of it, now that NASA has shut down this limits my information to very little. It is and forever will be a terrible mistake until we reopen the doors that we have closed.
