Aphorism Case

I love quoting people, whether it's from a movie, book, song or something a friend just said. It's a good way to tell a joke, give some advice or even expand your knowledge. I have found some aphorisms by Ralph Waldo Emerson that I have personally connected to. These quotes have great meaning to me and I try to incorporate them in my life as much as possible.
One of Ralph Waldo Emerson's aphorisms that I feel I have a connection to is "As long as a man stands in own way, everything seems to be in his way." I have been a few situations where this has been absolutely true. These situations normally involve school, soccer and sadly...women. One thing I have always wanted to accomplish is to get all A's on a report card. I haven't been able to do this yet and I always blame other things. I am responsible for my grades, yet I blame my teachers for not being good at their jobs or the fact that the work is too hard. I would say that 98% of my grades come from my efforts, then there is the occasional group project or mean teacher. So basically as long as I keep myself from preforming, it will seem like everything else is. Now with soccer I can be very self-conscience about my abilities. This past season I didn't play very well and it felt like it was because the team didn't like me or because they wouldn't pass to me much. I realized after the season, the only thing holding me back was... me. When it comes to the ladies I become very shy and slightly confused. To be honest the only thing that has really kept me from having a girlfriend is myself. I always think that it is because of another guy or my looks or my personality but it's just my lack of confidence. I am holding myself back.
"Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; you shall begin is well and serenely..." I love this quote because I say this to myself all of the time! When I have a bad day or I'm stressing over something, this is pretty much what I would tell myself. Tomorrow is a new day, today is over. I try to tell this to my friends too. They come to me to vent a lot and I love that, so this is what I try to tell them. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. I just recently had a horrible day, all kinds of drama. I was ready to just collapse from the stress but I made it through that. The next few days were a little rough but I knew that tomorrow was a new day and it would get better.
I'm the kind of person, who always looks at the bright side, I'm very optimistic. That is why I believe strongly in this quote "Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm." Doing things with a positive outlook is pretty important. Not only does it allow them to be done better but also done faster. Doing/ finishing things with enthusiasm means anything
