I. INTRODUCTION

Television is almost everywhere, in the home, in the school and offices. It is the one of the most influential type of mass media consumed by the viewers because they are not only using their eyes to see actions of the character in a certain TV shows but they can also used their ear to hear the sounds. Television is considered as the easiest way to interpret the meaning or message of threat have been showed to the viewers because it involves the two senses (eyes and ears) which can easily feel and understand the theme or message being portrayed. In doing so, audience may able to form and make a necessary action and feedback regarding to what television show presented to them. People watch television to gather information and to be entertained. There are different TV viewing., some of this are news, to gather information about what happen in the society, telenovels, to know and learn about themselves alone (audience): educational TV shows like BATIBOT (from tv5),WANSAPANATAYM (ABS-CBN) and animated shows ,to educate and have fun. But mostly preferred to watch by the teenagers and children are animated shows because they believe this animation gives fun and excitements to them.

Animation shows is now in full swing as local TV stations. These anime invasions are unveiling their Japanese gems to young TV audiences hungry for anything with big eyes, crazy-colored hair, shiny robots or deadly magical tournaments. This is all about animation shows on television wherein the majority of the viewers are children and even teenagers .Filipino children and teenagers have long enjoyed watching anime even before but never on the scale that it has been the most likely to watched. It is already on its highest peak of popularity.

At this point, young viewers enjoy watching animated shows. Thus, this study aims:

>to know how young viewers deal with the show they watch especially the violent ones.

>to be able to know if watching such kind of shows can really affect the behavior and attitudes of viewers and

>to find out its impact to the viewers whether it is positive or negative.

Specially, the following questions will serve as the baseline in order to answer the goal of the study. The following are:

1. What are the animated shows preferred to watch by the young viewers?

2. Who will influence them to watch animation?

3. Why do they watch animation?

4. How often do they watch animation?

5. How many hours do they spend watching animation?

6. Do young viewers watch alone?

7. When do they watch animated shows?

8. What are the types of shows most likely to watch by the viewers?

9. What are the advantages and disadvantages of watching animated shows?

10. What are some effects of watching animations?

Based from the answer of the respondents to the questions presented to them, researcher may able to determine the highest percentage of watching animation in terms of sex and age.

The study was conducted in Brgy. 31 Talingaan Laoag City. The Barangay is found in the rural area which composed of three sitios. There are; sitio Lubbot, Uma and Talingaan proper. Researcher select the sitio Lubbot as the locate of the study because only the sitio which bas the highest number of children having the age bracket of 9-14 years old as only considered in the study.

Data gathering is quantitative. The theoretical perspective used is structural functionalism. Survey method was the research technique design. The researcher makes sed of an instrument to come up with the answers. A questionnaire was constructed to serve as a data gathering tool. There were 30 respondents; 15 females and 15 males, randomly sampled. Respondents were all juniors having a bracket of 9-14 years old. Data gathered were statistically treated. The formula used was:

The formula was used in order to analyze the data gathered and to be able to interpret the findings and tabulate the answers of the respondents in a much better way. The researcher assumed that watching anime show is not good for young viewers since most of the anime shows are very violent. These could affect children`s emotional and mental aspect.

II. RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS

A. Definition of animation

Cartoon a drawing make on paper in preparation and in the same size as painting, tapestry, mosaic, or piece of stained glass. Since the 1840`s the term has come to also mean humorous, satirical or opinionated drawing, typically one printed in a newspaper or magazines, with or without a short text.

The meaning of the word cartoon changed in the 1840`s when Prince Albert, who wanted to decorate the walls of the new houses of parliament in London with frescoes were exhibited in 1843, thus earning the word cartoon its modern definitions of a humors or statistical drawing.
