Analyzing Beyond the Advertisement

Simply and clearly printed on the advertisement for Lipton tea and honey pitcher packets states, "New Lipton Tea & Honey; sweetened with honey, made from real tea leaves, and real fruit flavors." Positioned directly in the center is a crisp clear pitcher of tea on a shady wooden table with a soft country background. Lipton states in bold letters "Drink Positive" grabbing the consumer's attention before turning the page. Inside of the clear pitcher the advertiser has placed: three bold green tea leaves, three freshly cut mangos, and three sliced pineapple pieces, all among refreshing splashes of honey colored liquid tea, being poured from a small powder filled packet.
Lipton's advertisement is very compelling, it is simple yet affective in selling its product to the consumer. Based on the setting and simplicity used it brings the consumer to the conclusion that this is simple to make, and relaxing to enjoy. Lipton shows us the sun beaming down thru the trees onto the table and looking out over a soft green country setting. Not only does this picture make the consumer feel relaxed, it also takes us to a healthy mindset. The natural setting and neutral colors makes this beverage appear healthy and helps to back up Lipton's statement "Only 5 calories per serving".
The tactics used in this advertisement help appeal to a consumer who is looking for a convenient, healthy, and relaxing beverage to enjoy. Lipton's advertisement tries to bring in consumers who are looking for a convenient way to drink healthy, the freshly sliced pieces of fruit, and deep green tea leaves makes the consumer believe this is going to be good for you. The powder filled packet provides us with the assumption that this is very simple to make. There for appealing to the consumer who wants healthy and easy to use products, all wrapped up in to one small package.
This advertisement represents Lipton Tea along with Unilever products; Unilever has posted their logo in the top right corner of this advertisement to let the consumer know they are associated with Lipton teas. The advertiser shows a much larger agenda by making the consumer associate their product with an all-natural environmentally friendly company. Lipton placed their product in the center of the advertisement, surrounded by nature; a quiet open field, all natural fruits, and tea leaves. The company campaign slogan also stated in this advertisement "Drink Positive" shows the consumer that you will not only be providing positive drinking for yourself but also Lipton Tea is positive to our environment as well.
Lipton backs up there claim of a healthy product by stating in the advertisement "Only 5 calories per serving". This seams to be a valid claim on behalf of the advertiser.
