INTRODUCTION

        This survey was conducted among 152 students of International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) focused on uses of smartphones. This topic has been chosen because smartphones are necessary things to all people in the world. In order to complete this assignment, our topic is based on 4 major questions which are brand of smartphones used by IIUM students, the acceptability of using smartphones during classes, do smartphones are useful in our study and do smartphones make us anti-social.

METHOD AND TYPE OF VARIABLE

        In this survey, we are using inferential statistics. This method used to estimate a property of a population on the basis of a sample. We collected 152 respondents out of thousands of IIUM students as our sample. Besides, we used qualitative variable and nominal level of measurement as our benchmark to complete this assignment. For example, brand of smartphones used by IIUM students is qualitative variable and it can be classified and counted according to nominal level of measurement.

DATA ANALYSIS

        Table 1 shows that 78 male students (51.3%) and 74 female students (48.7%) were responded to our survey. Table 2 illustrates that most of first year students which are 48.7% responded followed by 17.1% of second year students. From table 3, we conclude that 31.6% of respondents from Kulliyyah of Economics and Management Sciences, 29.6% of respondents from Kulliyyah of Islamic Revealed Knowledge and Human Sciences and 12.5% are from Kulliyyah of Engineering. Table 4 depicts that 52 respondents which are 34.2% are using Samsung followed by 17.8% of IPhone users and the least are Huawei users (2.6%). Table 5 mentions that 57.2% respondents were agreed that using smartphones in class are acceptable and in table 6, 90.8% respondents were agreed that smartphones are useful in their study. Lastly, from table 7, we acknowledged that 48.7% respondents were disagreed that smartphones make us anti-social.

CONCLUSION

        In conclusion, majority of respondents were agreed that smartphones are useful and really help in their studies.
