A young African-American single mother from a poor neighborhood.
In my research on this topic I found that 90% of single parent families are headed by females. The single mothers have the highest rates in poverty (olsen & Banyard, 1993) approximately 60% of the children in the U.S. are living with there mothers. The African-American rates are even higher. The past research is more likely to experience less healthy lives, average, than the children from intact families.
It seems that the poor single mothers are forces to choose between quality & flexability not only jobs but child care & that they work long hours or irregukar hours & it means using less well trained or experienced child care providers that are supervising too many children at one time. There are 53% of the single mothers that are not in the work force due to there not able to find a job or quality child care or have very little money.
There are a lot of single mothers that have been forced to stay home & apply for public assistance that ensure to pay for housing, food, & medical coverage for their children. The African-American single mothers & their children may experience the most consequences of unemployement because their earnings constitute a greater percent of their total family income, less likely to be awarded child support payments, to receive child support payments, or to have a second wage earner living in the household.
A 60-year-old unemployed male looking for work
In my research I have found out there are a lot of older men looking for work due to being either let go from there pevious jobs Because the employer wants the younger generation working for them. It’s harder for men 60+ to get a job because it’s either because they were laid off from there previous job or that they have applied & get noe response from the employer.
It’s very hard for a guy that is used to making 6 figures & he found out that age 62, he kept putting in applications after applications & kept getting turned down or away. He said it’s never been easy getting older, in need of a good full-time job with benefits, & not having one. There are millions of people between ages 50-60 that are drifting into perilous intersections of unemployment.
There are some employers that are looking for the older generation workers but can’t afford the risk of hiring them due to higher health care rates. It’s harder for men ages60 to find employer that is interested in there experience & wants to hirer them with full benefits.
A young American-Vietnamese girl raised by very traditional parents who believe that women should not work.
In my research I have found that one girl/women got the revenge on her parents, she was copying, pasting, & gluing an A to her report cards along with telling her parents lies. She was a high school student that was growing up in a family that had high expectations for their children & she was trying very hard to impress her parents by trying to do her best but it seems it wasn’t good enough for them.
