Amelia Bedelia always got herself in trouble by mixing things up. When Mrs. Rogers asked for cereal with her coffee for breakfast, she did exactly what she told; she put some cereal in the coffee. Mrs. Rogers was so upset, she fired her.
Amelia needed to find another job. She walked a block or so and was hired as a file clerk. First, she was asked to put stamps on some letters. Then, she was instructed to file some papers. Amelia thought to stamp the letters one at a time. So she took each letter, she put it on the floor and stamped on it. When the owner came back, his face turned red when he saw what she did. Again, she got terminated.
Amelia Bedelia remembered what she left at the Rogers' house. So she went back and continued making some cream puffs. Mrs. Rogers realized her family truly missed Amelia and begged her to come back. Amelia agreed.
I chose Come Back, Amelia Bedelia by Peggy Parish because it was not only funny but also taught me how to be patient and kind. Even though several times she got rejected and fired, she did not give up nor got upset with those people who did not teach her on how to learn the job.
My favorite part was when Mr. Rogers asked Amelia to heat a can of soup. She put it in a pot and did exactly what she told; she heated that can of soup.
Next, she looked in her purse and found a fingernail file. Then, she began to file the papers. When the owner came back, his face turned red when he saw what she did. Again, she was asked to leave.
