After I read "Island Of The Blue Dolphin"
Recently, I read a book named "Island Of The Blue Dolphin". It was written by Scott O'Dell. This book tells a story that: The Aleut hunters who came to the island to hunt otter killed most of people in Karana's village and Karana's father. In order to dodge the Aleut hunters, villagers decided to leave the island and to go to another place. When they were leaving, Karana's brother was left behind, so Karana did not go with the villagers and stayed on the island to take care of her brother. She gathered food, built house, and made tools for surviving. In order to fight with the wild dogs that killed her brother, Karana had to make weapons. But at last, she did not kill the wild dog and made friend with the dog, because she needed a friend. Later on, Karana learned how to respect all of the animals on the island, and made friends with them. After 12 years, some white people found her and took her off the island.
I like this book, because I can learn something which I can't learn from the class. While I read this book, I thought about some questions: how can Karana survive just by herself? How many people can live alone without help? When I read this book these questions were always on my mind. I think living alone without any help is very difficult for everybody. She lived alone on the island for about 12 years, she tried to gather the food for herself, she tried to make the house for herself, she tried to make the weapons by herself and she tried to live by herself. From the story I know that the real strong person does not mean someone who has a strong body, it means someone who has an adamant heart. The person who lives alone needs a big courage and many experiences of life. From the story I also knew an important truth: no matter what kind of problems we have, we should try our best to solve them and never give up.
