Advertising Past and Present Paper
The use of advertising has been around for years. Organizations of been using advertising to promote and persuade costumers to purchase their product or service. Over the years there have been several advancements and changes to how advertising is done or where it's being done. Some of these changes are from technology advances and the devices that are now being used by consumers.
Advertising is a type of communication that is non personal that is done in a persuasive method to get consumer interested in a particular service or product. One of the largest functions of advertising that is being used is the slogan. If a company can make up a catchy slogan it helps customers remember who the organization is and what their slogan is. Organization use advertising to draw the attention of consumer. They need to know what it is they like or what their interest can be. There is a lot of thought and function that goes into a campaign ad. For example the company can make it with brought or dull colors, attractive designs something that will catch the eye of the consumer. It they are not able to get this done the ad might not work as they intended it too. Each ad that an organization comes up with is normally intended for a particular audience. Because of this there are normally multiple ads ran for the same product or service but are designed to attract different groups of consumers.
Past Advertising
If we are to explore advertising in the past we would notice quit of few differences compared to today's version of advertising. They were limited to the type of technology that is offered, so most of the advertisements were pretty basic. To look at past advertisements lets look at General Motors and their advertisements of the Camaro. At the time they were competing against the impressive Ford Mustang. General Motors try to work on an advertisement that would attract more business away from their competitors. Some of the ways they attempted to do this was with their 1969 Camaro Z28. Since the Corvette was such a popular car at the time they tried to use it's popularity and combine it with the Camaro. They wanted to get the idea in the consumers head that a Camaro was just as fun and as exciting as the Corvette. As you can read in the advertisement it says "Closest thing to a Corvette yet".
Present Advertising
The new style of advertisements for General Motors tries to add more color and design into them. If you were to compare it to the first advertisement you would be able to notice a big difference in the quality of the picture.
