Advantages of Global Warming
Even with the negative effects of global warming, there are still some advantages. Global warming has the potential to be catastrophic to the Earth, but with the catastrophe comes a chance for certain good as well. The Rosenberg (2011) website gives many advantages that will come along with global warming. Earth's frozen regions, such as Antarctic, Siberia, and the Arctic may experience milder climate, and more plant growth. Due to global warming, the Earth's temperature continues to rise which will eventually cause the coldest weather to be warm, which would mean less deaths to cold weather related illnesses. This would also provide less need for the consumption of energy to warm otherwise cold places. Another advantage of global warming includes the opening of sea transportation though Canada's Northwest Passage. The warmer temperatures that global warming will cause, will have a positive effect on the agricultural production as well. With the warming of the temperatures will come a longer growing season for some productions. Other advantages of global warming include an increase in mountain height due the melting glaciers, and lessen the chance of the Earth experiencing another ice age. While the list of advantages are far shorter than the list of disadvantages of global warming, some may find it assuring to know that even thought man-kind has caused most of the negative effects of global warming, some good can come out of it too.
