Deviance is a quite controversial topic, because each person's personal opinion affects the way they feel about certain issues. It is often portrayed in a negative way and many people feel as though it should not be a part of one's actions. Since this is the image placed into certain individuals minds it is widely frowned upon. I have obtained two articles both of which portraying an act a deviance or so one might say. One speaks about tattoos and how it can be frowned upon and the other explains child deviance.

To begin with, in my first article "Ink on Skin Doesn't Necessarily Indicate Sin" Tom Jacobs speaks about how college students with piercings and/or tattoos may be looked at by others. "Body art is like real estate. The key factors are density and location, location, location." says Jacobs in his article. Basically it's not so much the idea of having the tattoo as it as how noticeable it is. I feel that if you are covered from head to toe with this so called 'body art' that it can portray an act of deviance even if you don't mean for it to come off that way. Society has done a very good job of causing many people to think that people with numerous tattoos are rebels. I completely agree with the fact that if you have a certain amount of tattoos you are or were at one point in your life a rebel.

In my second article "Children's Deviance" by Artur Victoria he speaks on the term "deviant" used towards children. Victoria explains on how people label certain children as deviants because of the way they see them. Although this may be true and some children may be deviants it is not always the child's fault. Most of the time they are not taught right from wrong because of lack of parental guidance which causes them to become rule-breakers. I feel as though that some, not all, children are deviants because after a certain age they are able to determine right or wrong but choose not to care.

In conclusion as I stated before deviance can be looked at from many different perspectives. Ones personal opinion does not in any way determine if a certain situation should be considered right or wrong to someone else as well. I feel that these two articles clearly portray acts of deviance to a certain extent. This is so because they are both very accurate giving some evidence to back my opinion up.
