The race toward semester is coming to an end and a few weeks left until the final exam of Managerial Accounting class. As well, this will be my last semester here at SAC as I transition into the CSU in fall. As the semester is ending, it is crucial that I finish strong with only two classes remaining until I transfer. It has been a struggle finishing my G.E. and upper division and figuring out what I wanted to major in, but definitely relief to finally going to CSU to fulfill my goals.
This is my second time retaking Managerial Accounting, because of careless mistake. Last semester of enrolling in accounting 102, I did not take it seriously as I should, therefore my grades suffered and had to withdraw half way into the course. I was really nervous and overwhelmed with the word load, and I knew that it was would take a lot of time studying. What I predicted still hold true until now, and probably until the end of final weeks. For me, accounting 102 class is a rigorous and challenge class to take, even if you do well in accounting 101. This is because the concept and material is much more in depth. With every new chapter we continue on, the material does not get easier and you must be able to master the previous chapters to grasp the idea of the next one. Therefore, a person can get really behind if they do not keep up with the load work demanded.
If I had to choose between accounting 101 and 102, I would definitely choose 101, this is because its easier to understand and easier to pick up. What I found really difficult about 102 is that there is so much different types of calculation for each formula and methods. The first time I took this class, I was overwhelmed and confused with all the different types of calculation, which is one reason I was confused and had to drop. After taken 102 almost half way into the semester, I felt that my confidence towards Accounting is still unstable, because I realized that there is so much more about accounting that I need to learn in the future.
Overall I felt like accounting 102 class was more math based compared to theory and foundations on the concept. When I took my first exam in 102, I was totally shock by the amount to calculation needed to do each problem, and if you miss a step or didn't know how to one, it's impossible to find the answers. My first time taking 102 was traditional in class lecture, and I wish we would had spent more time working on problems such as in a math class, learning the steps and memorizing the formulas, in that way its easier when its time for the exams. This time around knowing from past experience, I focused more on how to do problems in the books and keep practicing until I know it. What I found tricky and hard on the exams was the abundant amount of different numbers given in each questions. If I chose the wrong number to input into the calculation then I would get the wrong answers.
This semester I took a different approached
