Abel Tasman was born in 1603in Lutjegast, Netherlands. He discovered Tasmania, New Zealand, the Tonga and the Fiji Islands, and was the first person to sail around Australia.

In 1631 he got married and on the same year Abel Tasman joined the Dutch United East Indian company.

1634 was the start of the first pacific voyage, Abel Tasman became a mate on a ship to the Moluccas also he was appointed as a master

In October 1638 was his second arrival in Batavia and in 1642 was a trading treaty with Sumatra. Abel Tasman went to the unknown south lands.

On November 24, 1642 Abel Tasman discovered Van Diemen's Land, which was renamed as Tasmania and was claimed on December the third 1642.

In 1643 he discovered Tonga and Fiji. The following year was his second pacific voyage.

1646 Abel Tasman was sent on some important missionaries

May 1648 he looting Spanish silver from a fleet

November 1649 he was charged and found guilty for looting Spanish silver.

On January the 5th 1651 he got his rank back and died on the tenth of October 1659 at the age of 56

In 2008 remains of his body were found.
