A YEAR OF MADNESS

Interviewer: What are your strengths?

Me: Sir, I am good in decision making. I always make decisions after analyzing the situation carefully.

Bam! Tathastu!

Going against the ideas of your PhD pursuing girlfriend can sometimes always prove costly, ludicrous. ‘Ahmedabad aake prepare karlo CAT ke liye, why only Delhi?’ I really wished I had a concrete answer to this question. But let us come back from what-ifs to the amusing reality.

In the quest to shape my résumé, I left my boring job – a happy choice. I am still proud of the leaving part. Locked up myself in a well-lit room with no window (which she hated) and prepared. Exams done, results done, interviews done but the happy bubble was about to burst.

Post the interviews (in fact while they were going on), a guy came into my life. The liking was spontaneous. I trusted him so much, running through his texts all day long. He connected me to some of his friends, a great group to hang out with. Everything was good till mid-June when I saw first signs of betrayal. The guy was mad, hence the name Pagalguy or ‘PaGaLGuY’.

Shillong list did not fucking move!

*panic strikes*

I gave my exam, cleared my exam, gave interviews, cleared some of them, and rejected all of them thereby completing the circle.

TAKEAWAYS

I have finally found answers to quintessential HR interview questions –

What are your strengths?

Sir, I can take bold decisions and it is rarity that I listen to someone. I easily trust phony sources like PaGaLGuY and do not ever try to question their credibility. Moreover, I can forecast things for myself. And as I previously mentioned, I make decisions cautiously after considering all possible scenarios.

What are your weaknesses?

I do not socialize much on networking forums like PaGaLGuY. But I am working in this aspect by messaging 10 new people every day.

What are your hobbies?

Not listening to people before taking wild assumptions (don’t even try to imagine that).

Then you must have some hard times? Did you face any rejections?

Please don’t embarrass me sir. Jokes on those colleges, sir. They don’t reject me, I reject them.
