A Write-up about Showrooming Article
From the past to present, the showroom has always been a direct, and effective way of business presentation. However, as the technology developing, the showrooming has been a little bit old-fashioned: customers can do research of the products before they come to stores. And what is more, they can find better prices than the store tag prices and buy directly online after they have tried in stores. Which means the sale should have been made by the stores, was taken by the online stores.
The market was taken by online stores while they should belong to the showroom. Is this fair? I think it depends. Because the trend that customers are buying more online cannot be altered. People tend to compare prices and functions before they place the orders. And the internet provides sufficient resources to research prices and reviews on the products. They can get abundant opinions from who have used the product and for how much they paid for it. The price and quality of one product has been so crystal clear on the internet that people can become an expert of the product just after hours of search. As my point of view, as a brick-and-mortar store like Barnes and Nobles cannot alter the trend and people taking advantage of their showrooming. They have to more on-line. Like online store and online reading, like the digital reader-Nook is a good start. They also have to work with the online suppliers to work out a resolution of profit sharing. For example, the Barnes-Noble can be the suppliers of the online-sellers.
