Hard Work Always Pays Off
This summer I was made into a much better man with a lot more respect for everything. I wasn't like an ordinary high school student I woke up at four a.m. every day this summer including weekends and worked until five or six p.m. at a golf course were everything was mowed everyday and had a perfect level cut. The beautiful trees, flowers along with the sparkly blue pond. It was a very peaceful place to work until about 11a.m. when it started to get very hot.
It was probably the longest and slowest summer I have ever experienced in my life time. Not to mention the hottest too. We broke a record for the most consecutive days over 100 degrees and I was out in it everyday mowing, weed eating, and watering the golf course just completely drenched in sweat and completely red in the face.
It was only the first month I had been working there and I was just about sick of it and had two more months to go. The part that I hated the most was all my friends were having a blast over the summer while I was in misery. It was afoul my family even went to Sandiego for a whole week while I stayed home and worked and took care of the three dogs. It was finally the last two weeks of summer and that's all I had left until school stated and I don't have to wake up at crack of dawn.
With one week of work left which I can remember just like it was yesterday I got a phone call from my best friend Reed Williams at about 6:00 p.m. on Sunday night. He said, "Hey Chase what are you up to?"
I replied, "Nothing much just got off work."
"Do you think you would be able to go to the lake with my family and me Monday and Tuesday?"
"Uhhh... I don't know man I have too work but I can ask my boss."
"Ok cool just let me know."
"Ok I will."
I hung up and was thinking in the back of my head I really want to go but in I'm a little scared to ask off because in the past I've seen my boss flip out when someone gives him a late notice. I thought about it once and twice and a third time yes I want to go so I went ahead and asked him.
"Hey Elisha I'm sorry its such a late notice but I haven't taken off one day this whole summer and my friend invited me to the lake and I was wondering if I can go?"
He replied, Yeah sure you need to take a few days off before school starts anyways."
"Ok thanks a bunch I appreciate it."
"No problem have fun."
"Ok I will bye."
I called Reed back
