A Little Piece of My Heaven
Do you have a place of pure happiness? What would it include? I have discovered a place where I can find pure nirvana. This is located at a place I only get to see maybe twice a year, because it is privately owned and you must visit only with a tour guide that owns the land. It is called the Sutter Buttes. They are known as the world's smallest mountain range and located by Yuba City
To start this journey I have a check list, Hiking pack check, Hiking Boots check, Water Bottles check, Dog essentials check. I am ready to go. It is about an hour drive from Chico. As I continue on my journey the car can't go fast enough for my excitement. I can see the enthusiasm in my furry friend also as he wags his tail and puts his face as close to the window as it could possibly go. As we pull in to the parking area I can hear birds chirping, the wind swaying through the trees and a mixture of strong aromas fills the air. It's the smell of spring. New life and rebirth of so many plants and animals.
We are only able to hike in the early spring or the late fall because the heat becomes trapped in the canyon of the mountain and it can be as hot as 110 degrees. This would make the hike miserable. About two years ago I was invited to this all inclusive hike that a friend of a friend told us about. She said it was one of the most majestic places she ever got to hike. And she was right; the old rocky trail makes it easy to see where you are headed but also gives it history because of the Indian ruins along the way. You can just imagine life back then, the smell of a fresh fire. The children playing and the women hard at work crushing some grain while making a meal for the family. It is a sense of life that many now days have never experienced or have forgotten. I especially enjoyed seeing where years before our time others were living and celebrating their life here. The trail is full of surprises.
For example you would never imagine a lake in the middle of the mountain, but there is one, and to make it even better there are hundred year old trees growing out of the lake, by just looking at them you can tell this mountains range is full of so much history.
. The many different birds singing their tune, also the smells and sights of all creatures that claim that land as theirs. The Creatures are so diverse they vary from a squirrel to a wild hog. As we continue on the trail. I come across some old wooden cages that the farmers before used to catch the famous wild hogs. The tour guide states that the wild hogs disrupt their farms and this is way they try to catch them.
The air is so pure and it brings on sense peacefulness's if all your worries and problems are solved and you are at perfect balance. The trail continues to the tallest peak as you step on top of the peak you can see for miles. It is as if you're on top of the world for that
