A Chief Lieutenant of the Tuskegee Machine
The relationship between Charles Banks and the Clark family of Mississippi is pretty simple. Charles and Clark are close friends and as time goes on the Clark family starts to become fond of Charles. Unlike many employers the Clarks actually allowed their kids to come to work with them. The Banks family and the Clark family was very long lasting. They were very close even touching on Charles' views on race relation. Charles also on a regular basis mentioned he has white friends and that they are very dear to him and his family. Charles and the Clark family were so close that the Clarks even supported Charles financially while he was in school. He also learned about business management and being an entrepreneur from watching the Clark family.
The old Negro Elite was a group of black people. The old Negro Elite had many of the same values of the New Negro Elite. Things such as education, occupation, skin color and wealth was considered before you were allowed to join. Your heritage and ancestry was also a big role in being accepted. Many people who had family members who were free during antebellum or family members who fought against slavery were part of the old Negro Elite. Most members were light skinned wealthy blacks.
The new Negro Elite, like the old Negro Elite was a group of blacks put together back in the day. This group however was very different from the old Negro Elite. Mainly the members of the new Negro Elite were self-made men and women. The members of the new Negro Elite were also usually less articulate or communicative than the members of the old Negro Elite. They were also usually less educated than the members of the old Negro Elite.
