43rd President

The nations 43rd President, also known as George W. Bush, was known and remembered in many different ways. He was not as popular as his father, George H.W. Bush. He has done great things and bad things but how should be remembered? From telling lies to helping the elderly, Bush has done many things to make him good or bad.

From 1995-2000, George W. Bush signed the for the death penalty as a governor. Then allowing a man's life to be spared even though he was a serial killer. He also covered up his past activities such as being a powerful political family who got away with being a deserter during the Vietnam War. He pulled out of the Kyoto Protocol which set requirements for 38 nations to lower greenhouse gas emissions to combat climate change. He ignored warnings about Osama Bin Laden. In 2001, on Aug 6 Bin Laden determined to strike U.S.

Bush was claiming to be a “uniter, not a divider”but that was said to be a lie. “Leadership to me means duty, honor, country. It means character, and it means listening from time to time.” -George W. Bush. In this statement he talks about how important it is to stay and work together as a nation. How division will not lead the U.S into success. According to the common citizens, they believe that his father was a better fit for the presidency than him himself.

George was the oldest out of 6 children total. Attending Yale University raised in Texas, he earned a degree in history in 1968. A troubled economy also contributed to Americans’ dissatisfaction with Bush. He began his presidency with a federal budget surplus; however, factors such as the enormous cost of fighting two wars and the broad tax cuts led to annual budget deficits starting in 2002. Then, in 2008, with America experiencing its worst financial crisis since the Great Depression.

There were no major terrorist attacks in Iraq. George endured seven years without an attack on U.S soil. Medicare Prescription drug benefits for the senior citizens. Enabling them to be able to afford the cost of overpriced medicine and vaccines. He signed a radical Medicare bill into law in 2003 that tried to ease the financial burden of buying prescription drugs for the elderly. George W. Bush had a quick response to 9/11 known to be the example the rest of the nation can follow. Even his greatest detractors will admit that he has faced taxing times in office.

In all the things George has done and not done for the country, I believe that he should be held accounted for. For what he did do and/or tried to do. How he stuck to most of the pledges he made. Everyone makes mistakes and yes he could have done way better and took a hint or an example from his father but it does not mean that he should be remembered in such a bad way. He too deserves a good remembrance just like any and every other president. Without their mistakes and their accomplishments, America
