Why People Shouldn't Watch Too Much TV

Watching television is an experience shared by most adults and children. People that watch too much TV isn't using it in a way that people could get the most advantages from. Most people don't understand how negative excessively watching TV can be. People should know the consequences of allowing themselves and their children of watching too much television.

Television is a great source of entertainment, and it can be very addictive. People watch TV everyday for hours unless they are very busy with work or school. Many are starting to wonder if TV is becoming an issue due to those many hours spend watching it. Some people think that Americans are just becoming lazy just as fast as they are becoming obese. However, the main reason to focus on is that maybe it's just that people like to take a break from their everyday lives.

There are many reasons why people shouldn't watch too much TV. The first reason why people shouldn't watch too much television is because the content of many TV programs is not educational; it makes people waste time that could be used in more beneficial activities. Nowadays, we can see movies, series, and shows that present scenes of violence, sex and drugs. This can not be what we want our children to see. It sends the wrong message among the audience that is viewing the movie or show. This has established wrong concepts among the audience that influence them into having a negative behavior. The impact this tendency has on children is worse because they grow up with the idea of a world where women must be slender or blond to stand out, where problems can only be solved with money and violence, and where wars are inevitable.

The second reason why people shouldn't watch too much television is because it makes people waste time that could be used in more beneficial activities. The time spend watching TV could be applied to useful activities like exercise, reading, interacting with friends and family, activities that are a crucial for a healthy lifestyle. People should look for ways to break the habit of watching too much TV.

* Keep the television turned off - Limit the amount of time spent watching television each day.

* Get rid of extra channels - If possible, get rid of the satellite. With a large selection, there will always be something of interest to watch.

* Choose other types of entertainment - Read a book. Take a class. Make home improvements. On the weekends and evenings, arrange to spend the day at the park and encourage outdoor play.

This would make Americans happier and healthier. This would allow families positive interactions and bonding time with one another. Not only is TV a waste of time, but it is a misguided sense of reality.
