There are many things that a person may look at when it comes to a business, like do they have the items that they like or is the place of business just a fun place that you can go and have a good time. At the same time do people ever wonder why a business is operated in the manner that it is and why, well that is why having a mission statement and vision statement is important so people can know why and what the future goals of that business. This paper will discuss the difference between vision and mission statements along on how Tim can improve his business by redefining his own responsibilities as well as his employees.
A mission statement is like an extended version of a vision statement by supporting the vision statement. Mission statements refer to a business's purpose as well as for their team members so that they may reference what their business stands for. The mission statement also may talk about the products a company is selling and the services that are provided. Another area that may be mentioned is the image that the company is trying to portray along with the values and priorities that the company has set for itself to become a better business. The mission statement is used more internal use
A vision statement also describes the company's purpose but it is shown in the company's values rather than talking about the financials of the business. The vision statement shows both the purpose and values of the company. When it comes to the employees it gives them direction and show what is expected of them and should inspire them to be the best at what they do. The vision statement should be posted where the customer can read it so they can understand what the company's vision of how it wants its customers to be treated.
The mission statement should be one to two sentences and should be able to double for your slogan but sometimes it is not possible depending on the business and what kind of message the company wants to convey. The mission's statement is not written in stone so as the company changes the mission statement should reflect these changes. Here is the mission statement for Tim's Coffee Shoppe's.
Tim's Coffee Shoppe's wants to make each customers visit as enjoyable and relaxing as possible so they can enjoy the best coffee, latte's, and pastries in town with friends and loved ones. We are in business of giving our customers a place where they can relieve the stress of the day by providing great customer service as well as convenient locations and the highest quality product.
Vision Statement- A place where every day is a new beginning and where old and new friends can come together to have fresh coffee
Revision of Tim's Coffee Shoppe's short and long term goals.
Short term goals areas followed, 1. Employee appreciation -employee incentives- employee rewards, 2. Provide better customer service - better training-utilize customer surveys better, 3. Utilize technology -offer better Wi-Fi service - offer credit and debit capabilities.
Long term goals are as followed 1. Increase personal and financial gains - achieving financial security - flexibility of work schedule 2. Expand the business - opening of new shops - offering new items 3. Enduring legacy - create a business for future generations - become household name.
The tasks and responsibilities of the managers are as followed. Elena Cano who is the manager has a major role of the business because she is responsible for making sure that the company's policies are adhered to which can entail such things as making sure that all employees are starting and ending their shifts when they are supposed to be.
