AABE COMMUNITY OUTREACH COMMITTEE
Mayor Dr. Frank Pasquale:
The AABE Community Outreach Committee along with M.O.M.S. (Mothers Of Murdered Sons) would like to propose a project to memorialize the sons whose lives have been lost due to street violence. Our goal is to plant the "M.O.M.S. Garden" during the spring of 2009 at a location in Bellwood. AABE members will work side-by-side with the mothers to clean the designated area, cultivate the soil and plant perennial flowers in the name of each child who was lost.
What we need from the Village of Bellwood is approval, of course, and a great location for the garden to come alive. While the garden will be beautiful and serene, we are not requesting too much space. Our thought is perhaps 45x25 feet; a size which would be easier to maintain.
This project will be funded by AABE and hopefully with supply donations (soil, rocks, woodchips, etc) from Home Depot and Menards. If the Village of Bellwood would like to donate funds, materials or volunteers it would be greatly appreciated. Once the project is completed we will have a dedication and then turn the garden over to the M.O.M.S. organization. The Mothers have agreed to maintain the site.
We are now in the planning stage but with the village on board, we can continue to plan and be ready for the SPRING! We look forward to talking with you.
Sincerely,
Felicia Bradley
