When looking at theories that are used to motivate individuals, there are different types for different individuals to be motivated from. Motivational theories came about from many great men who decided to try to understand what will truly motivate a person to achieve their full potential and perform to the max. One of the theories that look at a two factor theory came about in 1959. which is the Herzberg's theory. "The two factors are the dissatisfiers-satisfiers, the hygiene motivators, or the extrinsic-intrinsic factors." When this theory was being tested it used people who were in the corporate world and it help in the development of two diverse type of experiences, satisfiers and dissatisfiers.

When looking at the first type of experience the extrinsic conditions were introduced. These were people who didn't motivate easily but being incentive by pay, working conditions, or status within their field.
