Florida's Teaching Certification and Licensure Information

The following steps are what need to be done to receive a teaching certification and licensing in the state of Florida

First, Complete an Application Package

complete a CG-10 application form

Pay the appropriate processing fee for each subject you request

Have your official transcripts showing all degrees and credits that you have earned

Obtain any copies of teaching certificates that you may already have from any other states

Secondly, Receive your Official Statement of Status of Eligibility

If you are eligible you will receive a Temporary Certificate or a Professional Certificate valid for up to three years.

If you are not eligible you will be required to recertify before receiving certification and licensing.

Third, Obtain Employment from the type of school that interests you

There are a variety of schools to find employment, including:

Traditional Public Schools

Charter Public schools

Private Schools

Virtual Schools

Lastly, Give your Fingerprints

As a school employee you will be required to give your fingerprints to be employed in the state of Florida.

If you do not pass the background check your information will be submitted to the Professional Practices Services for review who will then contact you regarding your eligibility for employment
