The government is trying to convince the people of America that we are broke and we're not. The fact that 400 people alone are running this country is ludacris.
Michael Moore writes about how he thinks America is not broke. He states "it has been transferred, in the greatest heist in history, from the workers and the consumers to the banks and portfolios of the super-rich". I think that all the money we really work for, we really don't get. My check is practically cut in half because of taxes. When we cash our checks at the check cashing places, they take a portion of our checks. We also have to pay a monthly fee to the banks.
Another point Moore makes is "today, just 400 Americans have more wealth than half of all Americans combined." I think the one percent Moore is talking about are very powerful. They are taking control of the entire country. Also, the rich stay rich; they've been rich for centuries. The rich pay fewer taxes too.
At the end of his statement, Moore states that 'Wall Street, the banks and the Fortune 500 now run this republic and until this past month, the rest of us have felt completely helpless and unable to find a way to do anything about it". At occupy wall street; people are sick of feeling helpless. They are protesting against corporate greed. They're also trying to make people aware of what is going on. This protest has spread to thousands of cities in America and Europe.
In conclusion, the government is trying to convince us that the country is broke. All the money we work for we don't get. On percent of America is the wealthiest and at occupy wall street people are sick and tired of feeling useless.
