Abstract

This paper will discuss the best approaches that Apple can use to suit their current talent acquisition strategies. We will also discuss recruiter traits and behaviors that would lead to successful recruiting campaigns for Apple. There will be a discussion for effectively planning for HR resources and the benefits that forecasting can provide for Apple.

Approaches to recruiting for Apple Talent Acquisition

Apple is known for its innovative design technology and its secrecy and therefore its surprises in the products that it is bringing to the market. As of 2009, when the article from our text was written, Apple was looking to bring the manufacturing of its microchips back in house instead of continuing to outsource the making and components for purposes of efficiency. However, with this idea there becomes the concern of the skill set of the current employees as well as a new set of forecasting models for a much larger labor force that will be needed. With the larger labor force that is needed, this will require that Apple do recruiting to get the employees that they need. They have already begun hiring more engineers as well as acquiring new companies and making them part of Apple. However, this will not solve all of their recruiting needs. The article also mentioned that they are using LinkedIn networking site for current job openings, which include positions requiring, "expertise in handwriting recognition technology and microchips used in managing displays" (Noe, Hollenbeck, Gerhart, Wright, 2011, 153-154). The article mentions that they are beginning to recruit more actively at career fairs as well as at college fairs to try to recruit the best and freshest talent for their company. As a company, Apple should also consider adding positions to other social networking sites such as Facebook and job sites such as CareerBuilder and Monster. This would help to increase the availability of applicants that would apply helping them to grow their company. Apple is a very reputable company and with their presence at career fair as well as college fairs they can continue to recruit the employees that they need to continue their growth.

Recruiter traits and behaviors to lead to successful recruitment for Apple

In many cases, applicants have already made up their minds about the company and whether or not they want to work with the company before they have even met with the recruiter. Apple, fortunately, has a very positive reputation with regards to their products as well as the company standards so I would imagine that if given the opportunity many would want to work with Apple as a company.
