Behavior and Communication Paper

Google was founded in 1998 by Larry Page and Sergey Brin, originally the search engines site had the name "BackRub" but as you can now see Google is one of the top webpage to go to when you need to find the "answer". I am a huge fan of Google, if I am trying to figure something out I always check there first to find the answer. Of course credibility is important, so you can not trust every site.

"It's really the people that make Google the kind of company it is. We hire people who are smart and determined, and we favor ability over experience. Although Googlers share common goals and visions for the company, we hail from all walks of life and speak dozens of languages, reflecting the global audience that we serve. And when not at work, Googlers pursue interests ranging from cycling to beekeeping, from Frisbee to foxtrot" (Our Culture, 2013). I believe Google answered the first question loud and clear; they do not discriminate against culture and have opened their arms to people with knowledge.

Google is everywhere and deal with a wide range of other big companies; they have to communicate with people each day in and out of their offices. They even have their own Gmail (e-mail), so communicating amongst the staff should not be nothing more then a few clicks of sending a message to one another.

"One of the most important managerial implications of organizational culture relates to selection decisions. Hiring individuals whose values don't align with those of the organization is likely to yield employees who lack motivation and commitment and are dissatisfied with their jobs and the organization. Not surprisingly, employee "misfits" have considerably higher turnover rates" (Robbins, & Judge, 2011, p. 542).

Google stands by all that they say, my favorite - because I am a huge fan of the site, is number five. "You don't need to be at your desk to need an answer. The world is increasingly mobile: people want access to information wherever they are, whenever they need it. We're pioneering new technologies and offering new solutions for mobile services that help people all over the globe to do any number of tasks on their phone, from checking email and calendar events to watching videos, not to mention the several different ways to access Google search on a phone"(Philosophy, 2013).
